The U.S. Department of Defense has inked a deal with Elon Musk’s xAI to deploy its Grok-based artificial intelligence systems across military networks. The integration, slated to begin in Q1 2026, will provide the Pentagon with Impact Level 5 (IL5) certified tools capable of handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). The MOVE aims to streamline logistics, administration, and real-time intelligence gathering by leveraging data from Musk’s X platform.

Defense officials emphasize a commitment to building an AI ecosystem focused on speed, security, and decision superiority. The initiative seeks to reduce operational delays and enhance planning efficiency, though it comes amid ongoing financial audit failures within the department.
